Good Advice From Bad Rap

I attended the National Animal Control Conference in Ohio this weekend.  It was a good conference but by far the most valuable takeaway was the time I spent with Donna and Tim, the founders of Bad Rap, a wonderful Pit Bull advocacy and rescue group in Oakland.

Both Donna and Tim provided a wealth of information, but the two most important pieces of advice they gave me were not actually about Pit Bulls or dog fighting.   Donna said the following which I found very relevant:

  1. Focus on your issue and don't get side tracked
  2. The average rescue group lasts 2 1/2 years - focus on sticking around
Nothing earth shattering, but I think these concepts are critical to the foundations success - and not always easy to adhere to.

So many organizations do such great work, and they all need help....
